Switchboard Operations

NJADB offers employment opportunities to people who are blind and visually impaired as Operators at the VA Hospital in East Orange, NJ. Employees manage the Switchboard Operations for two VA Hospitals and multiple care facilities. With the use of adaptive equipment and technology, all of the functions of the switchboard including internal transfers, cardiac arrest and blood bank monitoring, Doctor's on-call schedules and customer service, are accessible to people who are blind.

Funding

NJADB contracts with the NJ Healthcare Systems Veteran's Association to provide switchboard services.  This is an AbilityONE program working with National Industries for the Blind.
